Day 13 – Monday, February 11 – Punta Arenas, Chile – Cruise Day 9 – Cockburn Channel & Strait of Magellan – cool 50’s
- A – 8:30 wake up to hot cappuccino courtesy of my love once again
- B – pouring rain outside
- B – mountains are shrouded in fog & clouds
- 10:00 – fruit & granola w/yogurt
- A – lunch – wahoo w/risotto & spinach
- A – 12:30 – rain stops
- 2:15 – shuttle to town drops us @ main square
- 2:30 to 3:30 – nice walk down to cemetery & back
- B – not really much to see
- 4:00 – room R & R
- A – 5:00 – phone call from guest services asking if we’ll be joining the dancers table for dinner (never saw the invitation)
- A – 7:00 – Randy & Rita invited us up to their suite for wine & appetizers
- (we loaned them our rubber boots in the Falklands for their excursion & they bought us a lovely box of chocolates as a thank you)
- A – their suite is very big & nice – it’s so big they even have lounge chairs on their balcony!
- C – 7:30 – join 7 other guests @ table w/Anastasia & Sergii from the Ukraine
FF – (FUN-fact) – Punta Arenas Spanish name literally translates to Sandy Point. It has also been known as “the city of red roofs” for the red painted metal roofs that characterized the city for many years.

Day 12 – Sunday, February 10 – Sea Day – Cruise Day 8 – Scenic Beagle Channel & Glacier Alley – sunshine w/clouds – balmy low 60’s
- A – 7:30 to 9:00 cruising Glacier Alley
- B – 9:00 wake up & missed lots of glaciers
- A – Chris got up @ 6:30 & took lots of pictures
- 10:00 – fresh fruit
- A – 10:30 to 12:00 – cruising Garibaldi Fjord & Glacier
- A – ship gets “up close & personal” to Garibaldi Glacier
- A – there is a small sail boat just ahead of us
- A – captain does 360 and heads back out to the Beagle Channel
- A – 1:00 – lunch splurge hamburger & fries
- A – 4:00 spa for sauna
- C – 4:30 massage w/Gerald
- B – rain late afternoon
- C –7:15 – happy hour Deck 10
- B – 8:00 dinner – Paella – doesn’t look or taste like anything I ate in Spain
- C – 9:00 – run into Susan & John, head down to the Club for after dinner drinks & great conversation along w/good music
FF – (FUN-fact) – 80% of South America’s glaciers lie in Chile’s Glacier Alley.
Not so FF – There has been an outbreak of GIS which causes intestinal problems for 24 to 48 hours. It is caused from not washing your hands after going to the bathroom. All staff members are now serving everything with gloves on and passengers are not allowed to touch any serving items. We are on sanitizing “high alert.”

Day 11 – Saturday, February 9 – Ushuaia, Argentina – Cruise Day 7 – windy, balmy 60’s
- A – wake up 7:30
- A – smooth sailing all night
- B – head up to coffee bar & miss Chris coming down w/my cappuccino
- A – beautiful day – sunshine & high clouds
- 9:00 – fruit outside deck
- 12:30 – walk off pier to town takes 5 mins
- A –spectacular snow capped mountains surround harbor
- A – town is filled with colorful buildings
- 2:30 – back to ship after nice long walk
- A – we’ll be back here in 3 weeks & not sure what excursions will be included in that trip
- pizza break @ patio grill
- nice chat w/couple we saw @ Houston airport & then met outside a restaurant in Buenos Aires

- 4:00 – room R & R – need nap from getting up so early
- C – 5:00 – book Croatia cruise in October & save 5%
- C – 7:00 – dinner @ specialty restaurant called 2
- A – 8 course tasting menu w/nice small portions
- have table w/another couple
- C – Don & Steve from Boston are them – what are the chances!
- A – 10:30 – rock the boat dance party @ the Club – lots of singing & dancing
FF – (FUN-fact) – Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world.
More FF – There are wool throws in all of the outside seating areas to keep you warm.

- 10:00 – spa seminar “how to increase your metabolism”
- 11: 15 – School, Geography 101 – Tierra de Fuego & Cape Horn – the southernmost tip of SA continent
- 12:15 – lunch theme Stir Fry
- A – join Randy & Rita from Charleston (they’re invited to my party too)
- A – 4:15 – Pilates class – really good workout with Mark
- A – 5:30 – Tracy in guest services wants to make my surprise birthday party invitations! (I was going to hand write them)
- A – 7:15 – dinner in Colonnade – Indian food – chicken tikka VG
- C – 8:30 – Happy Hour Observation Bar on 10 front of ship – panoramic view
- B – overcast, cloudy, misty
- C – passing Cape Horn – never been so busy or full
- A – Leandra the bartender was on our cruise this summer

Day 7 – Tuesday, February 5 – Sea Day – foggy in morning – sun by noon – cool 60’s
- A – 9:00 – wake up to good, hot cappuccino in room courtesy of my love!
- 10:30 – eat some fresh fruit
- 11:15 – spa lecture – “secrets to a flatter stomach” – I’m all over that one!
- B – misprinted in daily paper – was @ 10 am
- sign up for yoga tomorrow
- 1:00 – patio grill for pepperoni pizza
- B – not as good as Regent’s or Princess (they have real wood fired ovens)
- A – lunch w/nice couple from NYC, Susan & John – invite them to my surprise birthday party (it will be a surprise if they show up)
- 2:30 – School, History 101 – lecture on Falkland Islands – the last war of 1982
- 3:30 – room R & R
- C – 6:30 – happy hour @ the Club on deck 5
- 7:00 – formal night dinner main dining room – lobster! – don’t have room in suitcase for anything fancy, brought a skirt which works just fine
- A – have lovely dinner with same couple from NYC we met @ lunch today
- 10:00 – nightly entertainment – broadway song & dance show, pretty good
FF – (FUN-fact)– We get our hour back tonight!
Day 8 – Wednesday, February 6 – Sea Day – windy 60’s feels like 50’s
- B – 7:30 – awaken by Chris & told that toilet had overflowed @ 6:45
- B – have to get dressed to go to main dining restroom
- 9:30 – fruit
- 12:30 – lunch w Randy & Rita we met on Monday & invite them to my surprise birthday party too
- 3:30 – room R & R
- A – 4:15 yoga – nice 45 minute class
- C – 6:30 – happy hour @ the Club on 5
- 7:30 – dinner main dining room – bacon wrapped scallops w/beet & caprese salad
- sit w/3 other couples from Kentucky, Florida & New Zealand
- 9:30 – nightly entertainment comedian just so-so – no off color humor
FF – (FUN-fact) – We opted to not pay for a balcony upgrade and now it is too cold to sit out. My guess is 6 out of 15 days will be nice enough to actually enjoy it.
