Day 1 – Saturday, February 4 – San Diego to Quito, Ecuador – via Dallas & Miami
- Good News – use British Airways points for flights First Class on American Airline
- Bad News – depart 7:15 am (which means get up at 0’dark:30)
- Good News – arrive on time @ 11:35 pm EST
- Bad News – spent one hour in immigration line
- Good News – arrive Hilton – 1:15 am – have club level & includes breakfast, free internet, happy hour
BB (Buyer Beware) – when flying airlines in bankruptcy – ran out of champagne & food options on first flight – ran out of red wine & food options on second flight – whined nicely on third flight & got first choice of food & didn’t run out of wine!
FF – (FUN- facts) – Quito is the second highest capitol city at 9200 ft.
Day 2 – Sunday, February 5, Quito, Ecuador – cloudy, overcast, high 60’s
- Good News – take 30 minute walk to Old Town – through parks – big family outing day – busy w/ locals milling about – street musicians & mimes
- Find Pizza SA for lunch
- Good News – 6 pm Happy Hour & Super Bowl
- Bad News – not so Happy Hour – told no liquor served on Sunday! Super Bowl in Spanish!
- Good News – manager programs TV audio to English
- Bad News – we miss all of the commercials!
FF – Quito named UNESCO World Heritage Site because it is considered to be the best preserved and least altered historic center in Latin America.
Day 3 – Monday, February 6 – cloudy, overcast, high 60’s
- Good News – nice leisurely get up at 9 am
- Good News – 11 am – go out for walk
- Bad News – starts raining – return to hotel
- Good News – 2 pm attempt walk w/better luck
- Good News – 6 pm ready for happy hour
- Bad News – go to 17th floor & told to go to bar downstairs
FF – Panama Hats are made in Ecuador.
Not so FF – Hilton hotel club level experience & food very disappointing!
