The ABC’s of Islands
A = Awesome
B = Bummer
C = Celebration
Day 35 – Tuesday, March 5 – Pt. Stanley, East Falkland Islands – Cruise Day 4 – thick clouds, very windy, low 50’s – sunrise 6:27 – sunset 7:37
- 10:30 – Gypsy Cove Tour – short bus ride to small bay with crescent white sand beach – walkway on hill above – see massive metal gun from war protecting harbor – small colony of magellanic penguins
- – so windy it pushes the clouds across sky
- 12:00 – dropped off in town – make souvenir run (we were just here 3 weeks ago)
- 1:00 – really rough water, get soaked on Zodiac ride back – so glad I bought the waterproof pants!
- 1:30 – lunch – really good curry chicken
- 3:00 – room R & R
- 6:15 – recap & briefing
- 6:30 – happy hour
- 7:30 – dinner w/shipmates (you can either eat by yourself or join a larger table)
FF – (FUN-fact) – Stanley is the capital and only true city (with a cathedral) in the Falklands.
Not so FF – During the Falklands war in 1982 Stanley was occupied by Argentinean troops for about ten weeks. The beaches and land around the city are heavily mined so there is no access.
