WOW Word-Of-the-Week #63: Spectator

Spectator – one who looks on.

When it comes to life do you view yourself as a spectator or a doer?

I heard a really great line in a movie that said, “It is better to be a B+ doer than an A+ spectator.” And I have to agree! What comes up for me, is that if you are only watching you are not fully experiencing.

Several years ago I had a friend that asked me, “Susan, if you only had six months to live, would you live your life any differently?” To which I responded by saying, “Of course! I would go back to Puerto Vallarta for starters!” And as I pondered all those things that I would want to do and experience she then continued by saying, “What makes you think you have six months to live?”

Well, I must say that question was pretty shocking! I really took a more proactive view of my life and what I wanted and then I asked myself, “If I died tomorrow would I have any regrets?” And the answer is NO! No regrets. But I haven’t done everything I want to. So I started making my list!

Do you feel like your missing out on something in your life? Maybe you have been a spectator and it’s time for you to be a doer!

This week ponder the question, “If you only had six months to live, would you live your life any differently?” Make a list and prioritize it. Then go out with gusto and be a doer! How does it make you feel to experience all those things that you have been waiting for or have put on hold?

“This is an outstanding way to get everyone thinking, I say this as a BIG truck pulled out right in front of me this morning and I almost lost the opportunity to make my list. ………Something to think about for sure.  I really look forward to these WOW words of the week. Keep them coming, they are a real instrument for positive change in everyone’s life…. Thank you for taking the time to share these with us….” — Lee Sowers

“Your word of the week reminds of something that Teddy Roosevelt always talked about, and that is “being in the arena.” Those who aren’t in the arena, aren’t trying to do something, aren’t truly living, well, it is easy for them to criticize those who are taking chances in life. Those who try new things and explore are the people who invent and discover. Those who make their living as critics, for the most part, have never really accomplished anything in their lives. The doers are the movers and the shakers in our lives. They are not afraid to take a chance; to do something NO ONE ELSE has ever tried. Impossible is nothing! So, we move on and find new challenges and live our lives to the fullest. That is what it is all about.” — Joe Moran

“Just a Quick Note: This Is Excellent! I continue to enjoy these, they encourage me to be better and live better on a daily basis. You have a gift to motivate people! Thanks for sharing that gift!” — Brenda Moreno
